Thesis (Mtech(Management Practice))--Cape Technikon, 1996.en_US
People who run businesses regard Management Development as an important future practice (Kimmerling, 1993). Managers are created. They are systematically developed through formal and informal methods (Thamhain, 1992). Management Development Programmes represent a means by which this development can occur. There are thousands of managers in the Life Assurance Industry, the development of which can be accepted as given in the future. Even though Life Assurers differ from one another, there are still certain generic Management Development practices and elements common throughout the industry. It would therefore appear to be viable to develop a single Management Development Programme by which Life Assurers can develop their managers.en_US
