Thesis (MTech (Business Administration in Project Management))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2022en_US
The project definition expands the scope and use of project management. While project management is studied as a generic discipline, the author believes that the demands of a specialised industry are determined by certain implicit cultural norms determined by the industry's culture. The construction industry is dominated by men, with heavy responsibilities and strict deadlines to meet regulatory and consumer requirements. While the size and level of automation of these construction sites varies, the standards and expectations are set by local laws, policies, and regulations. According to research, opinions differ on the relative importance of hard and soft skills for project leadership. Interesting conclusions were drawn about optimum leadership styles for the industry based on product time, cost, and quality requirements. Interviewees included project managers, engineers, technicians, and general labourers. The questions were designed for project managers and project practitioners who deal with daily issues.en_US
